RENEWABLE ENERGY

RENEWABLE SOURCES OF ENERGY

Today, I decided to talk briefly about some renewable sources of energy. Renewable energy source is a term refers to energy that can be replenished in a short period of time, unlike non-renewable energy that takes very long periods of time to replenish and sometimes doesn’t at all. There are several types of renewable energy including biomass, geothermal, wind, and solar energy. Solar energy is simply energy obtained from the heat/light of the sun. The main concept of solar energy is to convert heat from the sun to usable electrical power. One of the advantages of using solar power is that it’s mainly considered to be a renewable energy source, and got no harms on terms of environmental effects. And, one of solar energy disadvantages is that it’s not cheap to build and operate, and few countries around the world got access to its high technology make up. Hydropower is another remarkable renewable energy source, which generates from the force of moving water, where water wheels are places in flowing rivers that cause the wheel to move which generates electricity. Advantages of hydropower are many; one of them is the significant outcome of electro power the wheel can produce and it’s also considered to be a renewable energy source. Disadvantage of depending on hydropower could happen because rivers don’t always flow at the same rate and sometimes don’t flow on the required pace in order to get the water wheel moving. Hence, electricity outcome cloud be reduced and or cut at all. Wind energy is another important source of energy people in different countries around the world depend on. Wind energy demonstrates the idea of converting kinetic energy into other useful form, such as electricity, using wind turbines. One advantage of wind power lies on it’s great potential of reducing toxic atmospheric and greenhouse gas emissions if used to replace fossil-fuel-derived electricity. Wind power is also clean and reasonable in terms of building and opertaing. However, wind power got some impact on wild life especially on migrating birds, few reports indicated that traveling birds are not protected from the wind turbies which usually causes death to the birds if interaction with the turbines occurs, and we add to the that the costs of replacing the damaged turbine.
